EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES is a continuation of the gestural approach with an introduction to the use of color mixing as it relates to the figure. Painting in the shadow shapes, lost and found edges, wet into wet and glazing techniques for building layers are demonstrated.
EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES approximates a live classroom situation, and includes split-screen demos and examples of student work at different levels.
Materials needed for EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES:
- Brush - Medium (#10-#16) round or flat
- Paint - Tube pigments or good quality pan set
- Paper - 9" x 12" or larger, 70 lb. to 80 lb
- Watercolor pencils or watercolor crayons
- Palette - Large white mixing surface
Optional Materials
- 90 lb to 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper
- Expanded color set
- Small cosmetic or ceramic s sponge
- #2 or 2B pencil or wash pencil
- clear or white kneaded eraser
